Love walked in

I finished my "first cable" scarf yesterday. Yea!! Cheers!! I drove to the nearby Knitting Bee yarn store to try some Eucalan which is a no-rinse, fine fabric wash that had been recommended to me. It worked really well on the cabled scarf.

Jamie, the store owner and my cable teacher, was at the store and was excited that I had already finished my scarf. She remembered that I was planning on knitting this sweater. (Pattern from "Knitter's Stash" book edited by Barbara Albright).

She led me around the store showing me yarn that would work for this pattern encouraging me to fondle the yarn. (Including the $12 per skein cashmere yarn. Nice try Jamie.) I told Jamie that I wanted to knit the sweater in some scrumptious cotton like the Nashua Cilantro that Shannon let me feel.

I recently met Shannon and Janet at a Stitch-n-Bitch get-together. Shannon is working on a beautiful jacket in the Nashua Cilantro. I liked her pattern so much that I back-ordered the issue of Interweave Knits it's featured in.

Jamie led me to the newest yarn love of my life - Rowan Calmer. This yarn is too yummy! It's 75% cotton and 25% acrylic. I tried (really hard) to not buy the pink yarn. Afterall, I just finished a pink sweater (and pink socks... and I have a pink bike...get the picture?) But it's delicate beauty kept calling my name.

I decided to start on the sleeves first. Strange, I know but I wanted to try the cable pattern right away. It took two starts before I could fully understand what the directions wanted me to do (the pattern was pretty vauge in places). But by midnight last night, I had this much completed. Isn't it delightful? Don't you just want to hug it?

Wow...you sure finished that scarf quickly. It's so beautiful. I am totally into texture so it looks awesome to me. The start of your sweater looks great too. As always, I can't wait to see the finished project. You are so talented!!

Love,
H
