New stores and such

It's the 4th of July and instead of lighting the grill for hot dogs and hamburgers, I decided to go check out two new yarn stores. (I'm such a knitting addict!)

Of course, neither store was open. So I had to make do with pressing my nose against the glass of the stores and wishing I could go in for a feel. I really liked the look of Lint which is in the NW portion of Portland. I loved that the owner had tied knitted pom poms to the tree outside her store! I plan to check it out again (hopefully when the store is open) sometime soon. I think the true test to any yarn store is how helpful/friendly/knowledgeable the owners and staff are.

I'm still knitting away on my first cabled sweater. I hope to finish the first sleeve today and cast on for the front or back of the sweater. It seems like my knitting has slowed down over the past few days. I want to kick it back up into high gear for the rest of the week.

Finally, I was flipping through the latest issue of Vogue magazine and saw Kate Hudson in this cabled sweater. Isn't it fabulous?! I wonder how one would knit such big fat cables?

It's the Balenciaga collection by Nicolas Ghesquiere. Simply Fantastic!

I'm sorry that the stores weren't open today. It's so hard to know anymore about what's open on holidays. It looks like you are making good progress on your sweater. I love the color and cabling.

But do you have to wear that sweater with that hat...? ;) Love the Pinky McGee sweater!
